Stopping your horse from chewing, aka “cribbing”, is not easy if you have board fencing.

If you have cribbers and have board fencing, it’s a given you will be replacing your rails and posts in a matter of time. Wood replacement is expensive, not to mention, the cost of reinstallation. Whether you have to take the time to do the repairs yourself or you have someone you pay to do it, the price of your board fence just doubled.

With Flex’s polymer rails, you can help to stop the abuse and much of your costly maintenance.  RAMM’s polymer coated high tensile wire rail just isn’t palatable to horses. The coating does not appeal to horses like wood.

RAMM always recommends adding an electric fence rail to any fence to help stop leaning, pushing and yes, even cribbing. Horses respect the bite, kick and nip from dominant horses. Electric fence provides a physiological barrier just like a herd horse does to establish the pecking order.  It says, “Stay away” and is respected.

No matter what fencing option you consider, it’s fair to say, horses have minds of their own and their behavior can be unpredictable.  At RAMM, we say there is no fence 100% safe or fool proof to horses! But you can have a safer alternative to bare high tensile wire, barbed wire, or board fence.  Flex is the safer alternative to traditional horse fencing!
