The 72″ Essex Grillwork Section Kit combines strength, safety, and installation flexibility for new horse barns and existing equine facilities. Designed for RAMM’s Essex Horse Stall System, this versatile section works well in stall fronts, partition walls, and custom stall configurations requiring a longer span of grillwork.
The kit features heavy-duty 14-gauge steel channels and twenty-two 16-gauge Galvalume grill bars. The Galvalume finish provides excellent resistance to rust and corrosion, helping the grillwork deliver dependable performance in demanding barn conditions.
Each 7/8″ grill bar fits securely into black plastic grommets positioned inside the upper and lower channels. These grommets help prevent metal-on-metal contact while reducing bar movement and rattling.
RAMM’s closer 3-1/4″ bar spacing provides an added measure of horse safety without restricting airflow, visibility, or natural light. The open grillwork design improves ventilation and allows horses to see their surroundings and stablemates.
Its component-style construction makes the kit convenient to transport, handle, and assemble. The 72″ length provides excellent coverage while allowing flexibility for new construction, barn renovations, and customized stall layouts.

What dimensions should I consider for a stall?
For horses of average size and even some draft breeds, stalls measuring 12′ x 12′ provide sufficient space for movement and turning. A 10′ x 10′ stall is suitable for smaller horses, ponies, or miniature breeds. It is important to note that if you require a larger stall for bigger horses, mares with foals, or large draft breeds, a size of 24′ x 12′ may be appropriate, depending on the specifications of the stall. Standard fronts and partitions can be utilized in this case. Additionally, RAMM offers the option for custom stalls upon request.
What grill work spacing is best for my horses?
Our Derby kit stalls have 4″ on center bar spacing. All other stall grill work is set at 3 1/4″ on center.
How do I calculate what I need for my stall layout?
Our in-house account managers assigned to your area are pleased to review your layout and collaborate with you to develop a plan for your stalls, stall options, and any additional barn products you may require. Do you supply the lumber?
We are able to provide your lumber or HDPE options upon request. Additionally, we can discuss stain colors that would enhance the appearance of your barn and offer pre-staining services for the wood. Alternatively, you may choose to source your wood locally to reduce shipping expenses. Please inform us of your preferences, and we will assist you in obtaining the necessary materials for your barn.
Do you offer accessories such as feeders, water, and flooring?
We provide a comprehensive selection of feeders, waterers, feed and water doors, our new carousel door, and additional items. We can also assess your needs for pavers, stall mats, interlocking mats, or mattress systems for your stalls. Just let us know what you’re interested in and our team will be happy to help you plan.
I need to have better ventilation, what can I do?
