Grounding your electric horse fence system is a very important step you cannot overlook when installing your fencing. The grounding system works as an alternative route for electrical current to follow back to the ground, in case something should go wrong with the wiring. If you have Shockline or a Pro-Tek electric fence series, we have a ground rod kit that includes everything you need to ground your electric fencing.

Ground rod clamps are used with your ground rods to ground your electric fencing system, and protects your investment. If you have a lot of lightning, consider adding an additional ground rod and lightning arrestor.
This ground rods kit comes with everything you need to get your electric fence up and running – including three 5′ ground rods, three clamps, and a 50′ roll of 12.5-gauge soft zinc aluminum burial wire.
The copper-clad ground rod promotes proper grounding of electric horse fence chargers. If your fence system is not grounded properly, your fence will not maintain a secure perimeter for your horses.

Ground rods are used to ground electric fence systems. This 72″ Ground Rod and Clamp can be added to a ground bed where soil is dry or barren. Additionally, it can be used to protect the fence system and charger when connecting a lightning arrestor.
This cut-off switch is used to either open or cut-off the electrical current to your fencing rail. Rails that can touch tall grass, snow build-ups, or anything else that can disrupt your electric current should have a cut-off switch.
High-voltage burial wire is used to connect the fence charger to the fence line and ground rod bed. It is also used to continue the electric current underneath gate areas. Rated for up to 10,000 volts. Available in 50′ or 100′ roll sizes.

A lightning arrestor is an effective way to protect your electric fence charger from lightning surges. Installed properly, the arrester creates a path of least resistance, diverting any lightning surges back to the ground. Protect your investment with a lightning arrester.
Note: Installation of a lighting arrestor requires a separate grounding bed for proper function, and it should be located at least 50′ from the fence charger grounding bed. Purchase additional grounding systems here.
Tinned copper lead-out wire is very flexible and offers excellent universal electrical conductivity for horse fences. Used whenever you’re running and/or connecting an electric current.
