Bale Door

Bale doors are a great way to bring natural light into your barn while giving your horses the ability to look out, interact, and stay connected to their surroundings. Designed for both function and durability, these doors are built to handle the demands of daily barn use and exposure to the elements without fading or rusting over time.

Each door is constructed using 18-gauge galvannealed steel for the panels, perimeters, and crossbucks, paired with 14-gauge galvannealed steel jambs for added strength and stability. Heavy-duty hinges ensure long-lasting performance, while a solid plywood core provides additional rigidity.

If you’re looking to add wall or stall openings without committing to the size or functionality of a Dutch door, bale doors offer a simple and refined solution. These window-style doors open with ease, providing excellent airflow and natural ventilation.

When closed, they provide protection that helps block out weather and minimize temperature swings, keeping your barn interior protected and consistent.

*Note: There is a difference in the way house builders will build a door jamb and the way you need to build a door jamb for a barn. Here are some helpful tips:

• Wood all the way around the jamb.
• Need at least 3” of wood on the face of the door jamb to accept the door.
• Use at least 2×6” boards; 2×4″ boards will not give you enough surface to screw to.
• If the barn is going to have wood siding, put the siding on first – then the doors.
• If the barn is going to have metal siding, put the doors on first – then the metal siding.
